RENAULT KWID BR10 VANOS GEAR INTAKE

Description

1. BR10 Engine / VVT (Vanos)

  • What it is: The Renault Kwid 1.0L uses a 3-cylinder petrol engine (factory code B4D). While “Vanos” is technically a BMW term for variable valve timing (VVT), local scrap yards and parts dealers often use “Vanos” or VVT interchangeably to describe the variable valve timing gear or camshaft sprocket assembly on the Kwid’s BR10/B4D engine.

  • Function: It adjusts the timing of the valve opening to improve fuel efficiency, power delivery, and lower emissions across different RPM ranges.

2. Gear (Transmission)

  • What it is: Refers to either the manual 5-speed gearbox assembly or internal transmission components (like gear ratios, syncros, or the final drive) paired with the 1.0L engine.

  • Function: Transfers power from the small 3-cylinder engine to the front wheels while keeping the engine in its optimal power band.

3. Exhaust System

  • What it is: The setup starting from the front exhaust manifold downpipe, passing through the catalytic converter, center pipe, and ending at the rear silencer (muffler).

  • Function: Safely channels hot combustion gases away from the BR10 engine, cuts down loud noise through built-in silencers, and maintains the proper backpressure needed for fuel economy
